Round trip with starting/ending point at Rifugio Alpe Corte (1410 m) allowing you to watch the "dolomitic" northern cliffs from Monte Secco to Pizzo Arera.
Beyond Valcanale village, follow, for about 400 m after the pond, the paved road climbing upstream the valley (to Rifugio Alpe Corte). The path begins on the right (signpost) and climbs steeply in the fir forest reaching the height of 1400 m.
From Rifugio Capanna 2000 (Hut at 1960 m) climb shortly northward heading the top of Pizzo Arera (peak). Turn left (north) crossing the Arera Valley leaving the path leading to the top. The path crosses screes and pastures with very interesting and nice plants and flowers (this stretch of the path is a part of the famous “Sentiero dei Fiori” (Flower Trail) - explanatory plates along the trail).
